Augusta, Ga. is the hometown of Soul Brother #1 James Brown. Like the others in the rest of the country, this black community has been gutted and left for dead, stranding senior homeowners on an island of despair. These photographs were taken in October of 2016,Georgia law does not allow abandoned property to be torn down for 25 years. This waiting game allows time for the owners to die off or abandon their property. The blighted areas are then scooped up by developers for a song and gentrified. "Livin in America"... "Soul Power!
